BIOL-3100 Molecular Genetics Eukaryotes - Theory
This course offers students a first approach to the study of molecular processes of the eukaryotic cell. The course is divided in two main sections. The first is maintenance of genome, with processes as replication, transposition and recombination. The second is the expression of genome, which is very complex at the eukaryotic cell level, including transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation, as well as post-translational phenomena. Different processes known for many years are also analyzed, as well as processes as RNAi, microRNAs and epigenetic phenomena that have been discovered in recent years. Students will also analyze issues from the standpoint of classic molecular biology, and state-of-the-art genomic technologies.
