Objectives
The undergraduate program in chemistry from the Andes University is for training professionals committed to the scientific and industrial development of the country, putting at your disposal, chemicals characterized by a strong scientific background, the result of academic excellence of the program with ability to use their knowledge and skills for the strengthening of basic and applied research in chemistry and growth of their industry in Colombia.
Similarly, thanks to its highly trained critical, ethical and comprehensive, it is expected that the chemical professional degree from the Andes University, lead in different fields of application of chemistry in Colombian society and strongly projected in the international context.
Study Plan
The thematic focus exclusively on the fundamental issues of knowledge of chemistry with major support from physics and mathematics. Fields of interaction with other natural science areas are treated and supplemented by advanced courses and elective courses such as medicinal chemistry practice in chemical synthesis, chemical flavorings, among others.
The Chemistry program provides a total of 135 credits (with no requirement for Spanish), which will: 2 theory courses and 2 laboratory courses in the Department of Physics (8 credits, 6%), 3 courses from the Mathematics Department ( 9 credits, 7%), and 1 course of theory and 1 Laboratory of the Department of Biology (3 credits, 2%). In addition, it supports the employment of methodologies and technologies, the program has a course on Algorithms and Object Oriented Programming offered by the Department of Systems Engineering (3 credits, 2%). Also included in the Chemistry program, 6 courses at basic cycle Uniandino (18 credits 13%), 2 elective courses (6 credits, 5%) and the course of Constitution and Democracy (3 credits, 2%).

Alumni Profile
The graduate of Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences of the Universidad de Los Andes will have a profound and updated knowledge of relevant theories and models used for the explanation of chemical phenomena. Used skillfully and effectively apply modern equipment and updated techniques to study environments that are of interest, from the framework of chemical science. Guided and guided, as appropriate to the chemical and physicochemical processes, interdisciplinary groups where the application of theories that explain the transformations of matter, is a crucial part. Be in full capacity to synthesize by designing chemical synthesis routes, organic and inorganic, of interest both in industry and in research. It will bring all his scientific knowledge to the analysis, search and find solutions to problems of particular concern. Will undertake studies to successfully open the frontiers of knowledge both nationally and internationally.
