MBIO-1100 Biologia Celular-Teoría

This is a theoretical and practical course to help students understand the fundamentals and basics of cellular systems organization and cellular processes. These topics will be enshrined in the new tendencies of modern biology. This context will allow students to explore cellular structure and biomolecules. The course will cover typical processes such as energy flow, transport across cell membranes and intracellular transport. Students will also study signal transduction, cell signaling, cell division and metabolism. This material will be covered within the evolutionary and historical process of cellular biology, with an emphasis on molecular biology and its applications in biotechnology.

MBIO-1101 Biologia Celular-Laboratorio

The objective of this practical course is to provide students with tools for the basic understanding and study of cell functions from standpoints ranging from molecular components to interactions between cells and the environment. These laboratory practices start students out in the management of biological procedures and techniques that familiarize them with live cells, which is useful for application throughout their training and practice. Students hand in reports throughout the semester, enabling them to become familiar with the writing and presentation of topics of biological interest.
