CBIO-4404 Bioinformatics
Given the development of bioinformatics and the growing dependence of all researchers who manage biological data on it, it is important for students to be familiar with the tools available and their scope. For every researcher, it is important to learn how to locate and use computer systems that enable data analysis. The course emphasizes the direct applications derived from genomics. A wide basic concept spectrum and some advanced bioinformatics concepts are addressed, including foundations and applications. The main bioinformatic tools that involve sequence analysis and prediction, their structure and function are analyzed. Since these are IT technologies, a theoretical-practical approach is needed – and, at the end of the course, students will be trained to understand how bioinformatics tools can be applied to solve biological problems.
