CPOL-3100 Comparative Politics Seminar
Internal armed-conflicts have drawn the attention of scholars, governments and different organizations of the international community. Not only by the tragedy it brings by its own right, but also by the losses of human lives, economic and environmental turmoil, disruption of institutions and, by legacy they leave to future generations. During this semester, the seminar studies the political economy of armed conflicts in different countries. We will study specific cases as well as basic texts and classics of the literature available on this topic. The goal of the course is to have the students become familiar and skillful on the handling of different arguments in this domain, develop the skills to assess arguments and knowledge by deepening on the specific conditions of each country. This seminar ends the cycle of Comparative Politics. For this reason, although the topic is specific, the objectives will be attained as they use and put into practice the main theoretical and methodological components acquired and developed by the students throughout the degree.
