MEDI-3809 Communication Skills II
This course will help the ninth semester medical student investigate in greater depth the most important aspects of the doctor-patient relationship, both at an individual level and also at a family and group level, in order to recognize and improve knowledge, skills, and attitudes toward communication. This will allow students to explore the different aspects of and barriers to interviewing each age group. The student will also develop basic concepts, attitudes, and communication skills for managing terminal patients and their context. The medical student will then learn the basic elements to keep in mind for properly orienting patients and their families (and/or companions) during diagnosis, therapy, education, and follow-up. They will also learn knowledge and skills for group education activities related to prevention and health promotion. At the end of the course, we will look at new communication technologies in medicine that are used in Colombia and in the world.
