MEDI-2204 Semiology I and Primary Attention in the Community
The semiology course is the student’s first contact with patients in a clinical setting. Its fundamental objective is learning to write a complete clinical history putting communications skills learned in previous semesters into practice and developing new communications and clinical skills for proper patient approach, the process in a clinical history in its components of anamnesis, physical examination and analysis. Students learn and understand the principles of semiology understood as a logical process where the signs and symptoms are analyzed for purposes of identifying a disease or clinical syndrome. The emphasizes the taking of a general clinical history, examination of head and neck, examination of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular system and examination of respiratory system. This organization is done simultaneously with the integrating systems course. The social medicine house call module is a part of this course where students will have the opportunity to make house calls on patients suffering chronic diseases. These are patients who attend the university hospital and have been chosen in advance by teachers.
