The Department of Music offers students from other programs of study the chance to take a selection nof academic alternatives to satisfy their individual interests in music.
The different programs of this Option attempt to offer an overview of musical performance based on the knowledge of musical language and the principal styles.
Music History Program
Description
Students must take 5 mandatory courses (15 credits).
Objectives
The purpose of this program is for interested students to learn and analyze the processes of production, use and consumption of music from a written tradition in different periods and contexts of Western history.

Recording Techniques Program
Description
Students must take 5 courses (15 credits), 4 mandatory and 1 elective.
Objectives
The purpose of this Program is to satisfy the student’s interest in synthesis processes and sound production.

Blues and Rock Program
Description
This program provides knowledge regarding the musical style and an overview of the historic context in which it has developed, in addition to constructing a critical standpoint of its expansion in the perspective of consumption. Knowledge and skill in playing the electric guitar or electric bass is required.

Jazz Practice Program
Description
The purpose of this Program is to satisfy the student’s interest in the genre and performance of Jazz. Requires knowledge of the instrument to be a part of the ensambles.
