This course is aimed at providing students with an understanding of Colombian business people, in terms of their origins and evolution and to raise their awareness of the theoretical foundations of business history in relation to the economic behaviour of business people (innovation, risk, diversification, market coordination, response to opportunities, creation of markets), their social characteristics, motivations and the role of the visible hand of the market in economic development.

ADMI-2106 Social Responsibility

The course offers participants an organisational Management model in which the role of profit-making companies as facilitators of the integral development of societies is emphasised. The ideas presented are mainly based on the contributions of Abraham Maslow, Erich Fromm, F. Schumacher, Manfred Max Neef and other humanist thinkers, whose primordial interest has been to succeed in the development of human beings being the conscious goal of all society's activities. It also uses some of the contributions of Transpersonal Psychology in relation to the evolution of human awareness.

This course completes the training received in the three previous courses in the area of finance and closes the basic cycle on this subject. After this course, the student is expected to be able to structure the financing strategy of an investment project, using the different sources of financing from the capitals and money markets. The course is essentially comprised of two main blocks: depth study of the basic aspects of corporate finance and the most important distinctive aspects of a capitals market. ADMI-2402 Optimization

This course is orientated towards the development of abilities to use quantitative models in Management, basically those which influence operations, logistics and decision-taking. In addition to the aim of the course being to teach algorithms, it emphasises the development of decision-taking abilities based on the results produced by the models and discussion of the pertinent nature of the models looked considered when applied to real conditions. Some of the subjects covered are: description of operational research, linear programming, transport and transhipment, logistics and inventories. The SOLVER computational module is used for these subjects. The pertinence of the models and the concepts discussed when applied to real conditions, with reference to Colombian cases and in the international context, are examined. The course covers the subject of the production of goods and services from the perspective of processes and operations. The purpose of this course is for the student to gain a systemic and strategic view of the relationship between Colombian companies and their surroundings, both economic and social, through the acquisition of con¬ceptual frameworks and concrete abilities in the management of models and instruments for analysis. It likewise comprises the different actors, the parts they play and the relationships of a strategic nature which link them together. What is sought thereby is to enable the student to identify the potential obstacles, risk sources and opportunities which the Colombian business setting offers to the development of business.
