MATE 3148 Int Geometría Tropical (Inglés)
This course provides an introduction to the basic concepts and some important applications of tropical geometry. The mains goals of this course are as follows:
- Understand the basic concepts of tropical geometry, tropical varieties, stable intersections, and matroidal fans.
- Understand the basic proof techniques in polyhedral geometry and acquire sufficient technical background to perform simple arguments independently.
- Learn about some important applications of tropical geometry. Understand the basic ideas and techniques behind these applications without knowing all the details.
- Learn about some recent research directions in tropical geometry. Build up an intuition for the general ideas, in conjunction with the ability to work out or research details if necessary.
- Work in groups on small research projects related to tropical geometry.
