LENG 3108 Death and Desire in Shakespeare

This course explores two of Shakespeare’s plays through their language, characters, stories and performance history using both an academic and practice-based approach. This course uses the original texts, secondary sources (critiques, reviews, opinions, analyses, investigations) and performances (both traditional and adaptations, throughout history and around the world) so students can interact with the plays on multiple levels in order to understand them more deeply. Students will develop their own interpretations of the plays, which they will analyze, justify, perform, defend and critique. This course is assessed through written work, presentations and class discussions.
