LENG2068 Traducción Especializada (Ingles - Español)
The course builds upon both the prerequisite and first module The Translator and the Translation Process and the first section: students will need to use and implement what they have learnt. Primarily, students will be introduced to the features and language characteristics of the specialised text, and questions will be posed as to what, in general, makes a text specialised. The focus will then become narrower and applied to the following fields: politics, law, IT, advertising, and science. Based on their knowledge of language for a special purpose, students will have the chance to work with authentic specialized texts; they will have to make decisions regarding cultural differences, content, word choice, text function, syntactic pattern, register, style, audience, text type, and terminology. Implanting all the skills they have learnt, students will produce a high-level professional translation.
