The undergraduate program in Art at the University is made up of three areas of concentration: Visual Arts, Electronic Media and Contemporary Arts, and Cultural Projects. The program allows students to orient themselves according to their aptitudes and interests and to consciously place themselves in the historical and current context of art. The area of Visual Arts fosters a solid, critical and updated knowledge of artistic processes to train a student capable of identifying, working on and developing their individual proposals in relation to their context. The area of Electronic Media and Contemporary Arts promotes the development of artistic proposals in sound media, live art (performance), audiovisual and electronic media that start from an intermedial, experimental and interdisciplinary approach that allows exploring the technical, aesthetic and social dimensions of these media in the context of contemporary art and culture. The Cultural Projects area fosters relationships between diverse content and spaces for the staging of art - museums, galleries, institutional events, publications, communications, media, internet, city - to articulate criteria and points of view that allow students to discern the relevance of their projects in a sociocultural context.

Research or Concentration Areas
The program consists of four (4) emphases linked to the three (3) areas of the department:
Emphasis on Plastic Arts.
It revolves around thematic lines of work such as the body, the object and space, conceived from a contemporary perspective, but without forgetting its historical imprint. It offers 4 modalities of further study in Drawing, Painting, Sculpture and Photography.
Emphasis on Electronic Media and Time Arts.
Explore artistic creation in emerging media and technologies and the practical reflection of the temporal dimension in art with an experimental, inter-medial and interdisciplinary approach. This area offers 6 modalities of specialization: Audiovisual / Animation / Electronic Art / Sound Art / Intermedial Scene / Art and Science.
Emphasis on Public Practices.
It establishes its field of action by fostering relationships between diverse contents and social spaces through artistic mediations that impact the context of the public. This offers the student a different experience of art that is not focused solely on subjectivity, but also allows them to think of the work of the artist as a mediator and catalyst of interaction with others. This area offers 5 modes of study: Curatorship / Criticism and Writing / Heritage / Art Spaces / Projects in Context.
Emphasis on Integrated Practices.
This emphasis provides the possibility of establishing more open and dynamic elective paths in a network between the workshops of the different emphases and options offered by the areas of Plastic Arts, Electronic and Time Arts and the area of Public Practices.
Model Program
Students must confirm that they have completed the required credits for each program and the General Student Regulations. One academic credit is equivalent to 48 hours of academic work in the semester. Full enrollment for each semester allows enrollment for up to 18 credits.
It is recommended that during each semester of your studies, as a student, you consult with your academic coordinator and advisory professors to review your academic records (folders) and plan your academic path at Uniandes in an organized manner.
This model indicates the courses that are recommended to be taken each semester corresponding to the program.
