Psychology Department

The Psychology Department of Universidad de los Andes was founded in 1972. Since then, the Department has contributed a great deal to the evolution of psychology in Colombia, through the education of generations of highly qualified professionals, scientific research in basic and applied areas, and the development of programs and actions with social impact.

Through its undergraduate and graduate programs, the Department offers a rigorous scientific education in psychology and offers opportunities for the development of basic professional skills. The Psychology Department also has a group of full-time professors with doctoral studies from renowned US and European universities, and vast teaching and research experience.

The Department conducts research on aggression, conflicts and education for co-existence, a vital cycle in couples relations, moral development, stress and health, neuroscience and behavior, critical thinking, problem solution and education, psychology and economic issues, critical social psychology, affective relations throughout life, sexual and reproductive health, domestic violence and other issues of academic and social relevance.
