Leads the transformation of supply chains, with an international strategic perspective.

Our Master's in Supply Chain Management is the first program in Colombia created with an international strategic perspective. Designed in collaboration with companies and with the highest academic standards worldwide. The Master's is focused on equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and tools to successfully compete in the modern economic environment.

This program leads the student to develop skills for the different elements of Supply Chain Management, with a view to creating competitive and sustainable advantages for organizations.

Objectives

During the program, different learning strategies are adopted so that the student can enhance the following skills:

  • Adapting knowledge on supply chain management to the Latin American context.
  • Operational and strategic decision making.
  • Effective communication.
  • Teamwork.

Study Plan

The Master in Supply Chain Management has a curricular structure developed over two years.

In the first year , there are two types of courses:

1) Foundation Courses: Students will learn the basic fundamentals of Supply Chain Management throughout 5 core courses (10 credits).

2) Specific courses: the conceptual foundations of the different roles in the supply chain, which will be learned through the use of the Problem Based Learning methodology , going through the 5 relevant roles of Supply Chain Management (10 credits) based on the SCOR model, separating the distribution into the roles of storage and distribution.

These roles are:

1) Supply: processes for obtaining the resources necessary to carry out the activities along the chain.

2) Planning: holistic visualization processes of value creation that allow coordinating the flow of goods, services and information throughout the chain.

3) Production: processes of modification of raw materials and creation of value of goods and services.

4) Storage: inventory management processes and product flows of both raw materials and finished products.

5) Distribution and returns: processes for delivering value to the end customer, together with reverse logistics associated with sustainability and customer loyalty.

Problems will be addressed within an organization. In each 8-week cycle of the first year, groups will be formed where students will analyze and manage 2 problems in one of the specific areas of Supply Chain Management (supply, planning, production, storage or distribution/returns). At the end of each cycle, groups will change areas.

Additionally, they will have a virtual classroom and library with a selection of learning materials that will help them solve these problems.

They will have access to 12 hours of advice from a professor who is an expert in the subject to support them in solving the challenges posed.

During the second year, students have access to elective courses on different topics of supply chain management. (14 credits)

International Experience: Of the 20 credits in the second year, 4 must correspond to credits in international learning experiences that can be completed during the KLU immersion week and/or courses at the Faculty of Management's International Summer School.

Final Project: Students must develop a final master's project that integrates the knowledge developed throughout the program. This project is carried out in cycle 9 and is guided by an expert professor.

Complementary learning experiences: In addition to the regular courses, the Master's degree will be complemented with other learning experiences that seek to strengthen the skills and knowledge expected of graduates. Other experiences include the following:

  • Participation in international Supply Chain Management competitions (e.g. The Fresh Connection).
  • Business visits.
  • Talks and conferences with experts in this area.
  • Participation in research projects with the support of professors in the area.
