Study Plan

The International Master in Finance will be a research-based degree program with a duration of 14 months. Since it is a master's program offered in agreement between the Universidad de los Andes and Nova School of Business and Economics, its curricular structure is organized in III cycles through which the two institutions participate and coordinate.

Cycle I is taught at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá and includes 4 courses, which represent a total of 16 credits. This group of courses constitutes the basic or foundation cycle.

Cycle II is taught at the Universidad de Nova in Portugal and includes 15 credits distributed between skills development (3) and in-depth study in finance (12).
Skill development is achieved through courses and activities developed in two locations: In Lisbon, students will take a Leadership, Creativity and Social Responsibility Workshop, a Portuguese Language Course, and a Career Vision Course. In addition, students will take a Financial Markets Workshop.

The deepening of knowledge in finance is achieved through elective courses in three themes: a) Financial markets, b) Corporate finance or c) Banking, regulation and financial supervision. Students will have the possibility of taking elective courses in the same theme or in several of them.

Cycle III can be taken at the University of Los Andes (Bogotá) or at NOVA School of Business & Economics (Lisbon, Portugal). This cycle has two execution modalities: a) Develop a basic research in one of the themes of the elective courses of cycle II and b) Develop an applied research in which the student works on a problem in a specific company.

Cycle III represents 4 credits and it is the student who chooses the place and modality to take this cycle, which is intended for the development of his/her research work.
