GEOC3100 Isotope Geochemistry

This course is an introduction to stable isotope geochemistry and provides the students with a comprehensive and understanding overview of the physical and chemical principles of stable isotope geochemistry. The course further serves as a survey of the chemical, physical and biological mechanisms and fundamental concepts of stable isotope fractionation. The focus of the course is on applications of hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen and sulfur isotopes with an emphasis to paleoclimate, biogeochemical cycles and ancient ocean chemistries.
