LENG3157 Texts and Contexts Examining World Englishes Through Literature

This course explores the sociocultural and linguistic concepts of World Englishes (from this point on WE) through the short fiction, plays, and poetry of different English speaking regions of the world. Because WE is a constantly debated and evolving phenomenon, this course will use, as its starting point, the concept of WE put forward by Kachru (1985) and move forward from there.
