LENG1119 Effective Writing
The purpose of this English for Academic Purposes writing course is to deepen and refine the student's competence and ability to write a number of different texts in English. The course emphasizes writing while recognizing the close relationship between this skill and the other language skills: speaking, listening and reading. Reading, speaking and listening are all used as sources of input to encourage and enrich the writing process; a variety of texts and text types will be used for this. The course also reinforces the important link between the use of language, grammar and vocabulary building. The content of this course revolves around units designed to meet the needs and interests of students as well as develop academic skills. This is a co-requisite to
LENG 1117 and 1118, and is a pre-requisite to
LENG 2114.
